Why Weekly Home Watch Visits Matter
When your Florida home sits empty for weeks at a time, small issues can turn into major problems before anyone even notices. At Hive Home Watch, we strongly recommend weekly visits and here’s why:
1. Catch Small Issues Before They Become Big Ones
A minor issue like an AC failure or a clogged drain line can escalate quickly, especially in our hot, humid Florida climate. Excess moisture can lead to surface microbial growth in just a few days. If we catch it within a week, the solution might be a simple repair. If it’s been two weeks? You could be looking at major damage and a costly restoration. Early detection is everything.
2. Stay Compliant With Insurance Requirements
Many Florida homeowner policies include clauses that require an unoccupied home to be checked within 10 days. If your provider visits less frequently, you may unintentionally void your coverage. We recommend reviewing your policy and making sure your visit frequency aligns with the fine print, because if a claim is denied over a missed visit, it’s not just frustrating, it’s expensive.
3. Technology Can’t Catch Everything
Smart thermostats and security cameras are helpful tools—but they’re not a substitute for a physical walk-through. Devices can’t see water pooling by the foundation or detect a roof leak in a guest bedroom. Weekly visits allow us to identify issues that sensors and cameras simply can’t.
